Our pet’s teeth need regular deep cleanings to help prevent periodontal disease, which can cause gum and tooth loss.

Small-breed dogs are particularly susceptible to periodontal disease because their mouths are smaller & their teeth are crowded together.

Clean teeth are the key to your dog’s health. Our main objective is to provide a healthy and safe alternative to traditional anesthetic-induced cat and dog dental cleanings.

We combine skilled training, and a gentle approach to effectively clean the tartar from the exposed areas of the teeth as well as under the gumline while your pet remains alert and comfortable at all times. This procedure will have significant effects on your pet’s health, helping prevent disease, and providing a cleaner mouth and a brighter smile.

Did you know that 80% of dogs have periodontal disease by age 3?

OUR
TREATMENT

Our technicians are highly trained and qualified to perform this method using proprietary techniques with a proven track record.

Each session begins by placing your dog in a relaxed position, either on their back or side, depending on what feels best for them. Small dogs are often swaddled in a soft blanket, creating a soothing, secure environment.

We use natural calming products and fear-free techniques to help ease any anxiety.

This method is perfect for older pets or those with health concerns that won’t allow them to go under anesthesia.

We begin by gently swaddling your pet to ensure it feels safe. Then, before the dental cleaning process starts the oral cavity is rinsed with a medicated oral rinse to decrease the number of bacteria in the mouth helping us prevent infection.

Scaling the Teeth

Hand scalers and curettes are safely used to remove plaque and tartar from all surfaces.

We use a sharp sterile ultrasonic scaler to remove all the calculus from every tooth, including the buccal or labial, lingual interproximal and occlusal surfaces of each tooth.

Cleaning Under the Gumline

We further clean the bacteria under the gum line using “curette” (a hand-scaling instrument designed to be used under the gum line) which helps promote healing and encourages the gums to re-adhere to the tooth surface.

Polishing

Polishing smooths out any defects, decreasing the adhesive ability of plaque, and removing any plaque missed during previous steps. Smoothing also helps in decreasing plague retention and slows down the formation of calculus.

Irrigation

After cleaning and polishing, debris will be present in the gingival sulcus. We rinse the mouth out with a medicated oral rinse solution and check all of the teeth with a blacklight where the tartar glows pink.

Our non-anesthetic dentals help reduce the risk of bacterial infections such as periodontal disease, which adversely affects your pet’s overall health, causing chronic pain, gum inflammation and, in severe cases, bone loss, heart decease, and organ failure.

To avoid these health risks, your pet should have a deep dental cleaning every 6 months.

OUR RESULTS

At the end of the treatment, you receive photos of your pet's dental condition before and after the service. You also receive after care information on how to help maintain your pet's oral health at home until your pet is due for their next dental cleaning.

My pet's teeth were an absolute mess, and his mouth smelled awful. I was not aware of the need for a dental cleaning and over time, his teeth got pretty bad. I decided to give it a try and loved the results. The people at Advance Pet Grooming did an excellent job. All his teeth were completely cleaned in an out. His breath was fresh, and I was finally able to get doggie kisses again. I will make sure to take better care of his dental health from now on.
